Browser Links to Applications

In order to demonstrate the results of our work on the Inuktitut language, we have developed a number of web applications that can be accessed from your browser by sending requests to our server. To send those requests, you will need to install a few links on the link (or personal, or bookmarks - the name changes depending on the browser) toolbar of your browser.

To put a link on the link bar or personal or bookmarks toolbar of your browser:

Internet Explorer 6

Step 1. Create a folder on the link bar with the name Inuktitut

(Skip this step and go to step 2 if you have already created this folder.)

The link bar is identified at the top of the browser with the word ‘Links’ on its left side.  If you do not see any link bar, click on View > Toolbars on the top menu bar of the browser and make sure that ‘Links’ is checked on.

  1. Click on Favorites on the top menu bar of IE and then click on Organize Favorites...

  2. Click on the button Create Folder on the left of the 'Organize Favorites' window.

  3. Type in the name 'Inuktitut' to rename the newly created folder named 'New Folder'.

  4. Click on the button Move to Folder...

  5. Click on the folder Links in the 'Browse for Folder' window, and click on OK.

Step 2. Put the link in the folder Inuktitut on the link bar

You have two options:

  1. Drag the link  (Note: it might be that Internet Explorer does not let you do it this way, so you’ll have to go the ‘bookmark’ way)
    1. Click on any of the underlined application Links: above with the left button of your mouse,
    2. and while you keep your mouse button pressed, drag the link onto the folder icon named Inuktitut on the link bar of your browser;
    3. when the cursor is over the Inuktitut folder icon, release the mouse button.
  2. Bookmark the link
    1. Bring the cursor over any of the underlined application Links: above, and
    2. click on the right button of your mouse to get the selection menu, and click on ‘Add to Favorites’.

You might get a ‘Security Alert’ window telling you that you might be about adding an unsafe favorite.  These links are safe, so click on the ‘YES’ button to continue.

    3. In the ‘Add Favorite’ window, click on the + icon just on the left of the folder ‘Links’ in the ‘Create in...’ scrolling list, then click once on the folder Inuktitut to select it, and finally click on the ‘OK’ button, and you are done.
